The 2012 Met Gala, The Good, The Bad and...Well the down right horrific.

So, Let's begin..The Met Gala is that wonderful time of year, the perfect opportunity for celebrities to really strut their stuff. It's for me as exciting, if not more so than the oscars. Fashion is key, and the focus is totally on what everyone is wearing. It's in the words of Tommy Hilfiger  The Fashion Superbole. So let the critique begin!

                                                             Beyonce in Givenchy
I was a little taken aback by this, for a woman only a few months after giving birth it's a pretty risky outfit, and from behind really bares it all. I'm not sure about the dress at all, yes it suits her figure and her hair and make up compliment it but frankly it looks like something you'd wear on halloween, and a little too similar to Christina Ricci's piece from last years Gala.

Cameron Diaz in Stella McCartney

It's very old, I know she is etting a little further on that side of the hill but it's something I would more expect from a botoxed socialite too afraid to let go of her youth. The shape doesn't compliment her and the colour washes her out.

Carey Mulligan in Prada

Perfect. Absolutely. Perfect. Frankly the best dress of the night.

Cate Blanchette in Alexander McQueen

She reminds me of something out of Howls Moving Castle, and I don't mean that in a bad way. She showed up, in black feathers, like a freaking crow and still managed to show up most of the gala. Fierce.

Chole Sevigny Prada
Taking chances again Chole. Again, they aren't working out for you. Kudos on your disco ball impression though.

Dianna Agron Caroline Herrera
This colour is amazing on her, the low cut neck and pinched in waist are perfect on her. Hair and make up? Wonderous. I love you.

Lea Michelle Diane Von Furstenburg
I love it. The colour, the shape the utter lack of shame!? I am a little tired of critics giving Lea a hard time for being "Too Sexy", She's hot, let her do what she want's to do!

Jessica Chastain Louis Vuitton
I'm not sure what this poor girl was thinking when she chose this dress, it's not her size, nor is it her colour. And I am pretty sure it got lost in the wrong century.

Kirsten Dunst in Rodarte.
I am personally insulted by this outfit.

Mia Wasikowska in Prada
This dress is gorgeous Her hair and make up is flawlessly in tune with it too. I just am really hoping they aren't pit patches, and just a trick of the camera...

Katherine McPhee in Elie Saab
As everything that is Elie Saab, this is fantastical. Her hair, her makeup, that little belt and clutch. Lovely.

Leighton Meester in Marchesa
I'm too busy being confused by the pigment of her skin to even acknowledge her dress

Scarlett Johansson in Dolce and Gabbana

I'm a little torn about this dress, I love the top, I love the train. I am not so sure how they fit together. Also the colour isn't for her, it washes her out and her hair is quite limp, an updo would have suited much better. But, I forgive you cause I love you Scarlett.

  1. Loved this! I'm still editing my MET gala post. I agree with you on Beyonce's dress though, I was really torn about it at first and absolutely HATED it but then the more I looked at it, the more it didn't look as bad and with a different train maybe it would've been better. It's very Haute Couture and that's why I look forward to seeing what stars wear at the MET because they seem to try something new and out there instead of "playing it safe" sometimes at award ceremonies. Anyway, awesome blog and you're style is really cool!
