OMG! It's my firstest ever GLOSSYBOX!

So, I got it in the post last week (this is followed by ooooh'sss and ah'ssss) and not did I only receive one GLOSSYBOX, I was a lucky girl who received two! The exact same one, but hey! it's still something free, and I love free things so I salute you Glossybox and your mix up! You made a mother in law very happy!

So as I eagerly opened, I was like a child at Christmas. Being a woman, I love new things, I love care products and I especially love unwrapping a surprise! And thus, I had a pretty nifty Glossybox!

Ah ha! Excited are you? So this GLOSSYBOX came with lotsa skinscare products and a sample of LADY GAGA's FAME perfume (so many capitals everywhere)...

Now I am momentarily getting through all the products to review but so far can say I absolutely love Rodial clay face mask which somehow have totally minimized my GIGANTIC pores on my nose, that I have used practically everything to fix (suggestions?)

All in all though I am really impressed with the GLOSSYBOX set up, it costs aroud 16 euro andits a lovely treat to receive! You subscribe monthly and pay monthly which is quite handy really and I 100% will be re-subscribing (After accidentally un-subscribing) and would recommend it to any of you who need a pick me up when you're in between paydays!

Jennifer Lawrence for W magazine

It's been a long time since I have done a fashion/editorial review post, along with the fact it's been a little while since I have done a post in general but due to collage re-starting and doing interviews for a new job and revamping my apartment its all been a bit hectic!

Now to say I am a Hunger Games fanatic is probably and understatement, add that to my love of Jennifer Lawrence and you have whole lotta fandom/stalking going on there! Now, I think JL is one beautiful and very sexy lady , which I am sure we are all used to seeing her as. (Don't get me wrong if I had that bod and those lips I know I would be playing up sexy too).

When I spotted her though in this elegant and well covered up shoot, it was a nice and she surprisingly suited the change!

The editorial was feathered themed which matches perfectly with the "mockingjay" persona associated with The Hunger Games Trilogy. Sporting dresses from Alexander McQueen,Organza,Alberta Ferretti, Vivienne Westwood and Prabal Gurung it's safe to say this editorial was a smash and a beautiful portrayal of the other more gentle side to Jennifer Lawrence.

Isn't the last dress amazing, I love the button detail on the spine of the back!
Thoughts anyone?

A Review of a lot of thingggsss...

So I went on Hol-i-ers (Holidays) and spent a few bobs (um er, not too much I swear). So, as I said in my quite terrible video, I am reviewing a few of the products! So , let's get to it and cut the jibber jabber!

The first thing I bought was a a whopper bargain, two real techniques brushes at 11 euros each! Now these are AMAZING , I don't know what it is about them but they are magic.

I use the stippling brush for my foundation , it gets in every nook and cranny and flawlessly applies makeup without retaining loads of product! Which makes the most of your foundation!
The blush brush is great too, it manages to apply blush subtly and build as much as you like! It's also incredibly soft which feels fantastic and doesn't pierce pores allowing product to block them.
My next buy was Lancomes mascara Hypnose. I quite like this Mascara althought I do find it leaves black smudges on the eyelids as it wears, which is no fun and makes for many checks in the mirror looking for panda eyes, so I will most likely not be re-buying this!

I managed to nab a Julie Verhoven kit from MAC in the airport! They had many different sets but I decided on the "Nude" lip set which consisted of a lip gloss, lipstick and lip liner! As usually when it comes to Mac and their lipwear ;) I was not let down! The nude colour lipstick is absolutely gorgeous (creme D'nude) and totally subtle, great for work or day to day wear! And for that day to night transformation team it with the lip liner!

I am not a lip gloss wearer, or correction, was not a lipgloss wearer but I am now converted. Macs Lipglass is AMAZING. It's not tacky and doesn't feel like my lips are covered in glue (which is how I usually feel). I got this one in "Natural Talent" and am in love with it wearing it on a practically day to day basis, tossing my usual "Snob" aside for this more gentle tone!

Here it is the big , long awaited buy! My YSL lipstick that I have been yearning for!

I've hear a lot of bad talk about the YSL lipstick, but to be honest I quite liked it! I found it was moisturising and didn't leave my lips dry and flakey which tends to be a problem for me! The only issue with this lipstick is that it doesn't wear very long. This can be overcome with a smack of lipgloss or lipstick seal! So, go easy on YSL look at the pretty packaging! The pigment is gorgeous , it's a pity it doesn't wear longer which is this lipsticks ONLY flaw!

NOW THIS!
Is my favourite product I have bought...in...ever.
Zoevas warm shimmer palette not only has ever colour under the sun for a neutral eye wear like me, it also has wonderful pigment  , great application , spectacular smudging and a DAMN GOOD PRICE. I got this massive palette for a mere 25 euro and online its only a wopper 17!

I could not recommend this product more highly, I like it more than any palette I own and they have it in a variety of shades! If you rather brighter colours they have a dozen different palettes to suit everyones needs! Check them out here https://www.zoeva-shop.de/en/eyes/palettes/

I know Zoeva products are certainly going to be my bank accounts worst enemy.

Love.

Getting the chop..

In Spain with a cut and colour for 39 euro? How could I say no?

When things get a little crazy in a woman's life and everything get's turned upside down it seems the first victim of re-invention is our hair. Whether it's scalping or bleaching after hitting the big 20 I have realized my hairs been through it all.
The big question is when has your hair had just a bit to much "change"
I'll tell you a little about my hair history and when that point came for me. When I was younger I was a golden blonde girl and was aptly nicknamed "Goldielocks" by one of my mums friends. My mum had super short hair, and heartlessly (or what I thought at the time was) chopped all my blonde locks off like her, I remember little of this only that I was oft mistaken for a boy!

When I got older and started the traumatic descent into teenage years my hair slowly went from white blonde, to gold to...a dirty blonde. That's when I decided to unmercifully dye my hair bright blonde. This was intercepted at a point with red dye which after a week of crying I decided I needed to be blonde once more and spent months a salmon colour attempting to regain my golden hair!

Through all this time Mom had hassled me about cutting my hair short, which I refused in fear of losing all my femininity , because as a woman I am wired to believe long hair is associated with being female. Eventually though mid way through my first year of college I hit another of those times where things are all out of control  and the only thing you can really change is your hair, so walking through Navan I stepped into the hair dressers and simply asked them to cut it all off, at this point I was still blonde, but 6 months later my hair began falling out and it was the right time to go dark.

Thus, here I am. Although I go through periods where I assure myself I'll grow it out  I never do, and hey I have never gotten as many compliments on my hair as I do now so who am I to complain!

If like me though and most woman are it's incredibly hard to judge whether if it's right to take the plunge and get that cut you have been fawning over. The easiest way to do this is to judge my face shapes.

If you have a heart shaped face like me, it seems we are pretty lucky as most hair lengths suit us. If you are particularly brave a crop or bob is especially complimenting for a heart shaped face.

If you are round faced, the more volume at the crown and length or your best friends.

And for square shaped faces, long waves or layers (try a layered bob) will help to soften straight or angular features!

Have a happy hair day!
Love!

When Holidays go bad...

Getting an extended holiday may sound fun eh?
Well I can certainly assure you it is not.

On our way out of our hotel we met a family we had chatted to a few times during our stay. They had told us they weren't able to fly home for a couple of days because their daughter had an ear infection (I know? apparently your eardrum will BURST if you fly with an infection? EEP!).
This was followed with jealous groans from a grumpy boyfriend and I who had not wanted to go home at all. It seemed fate was playing an awful trick on us both!

So lalala we got to the minuscule airport and went through the trauma of security (May I add I got frisked) and after buying a german magazine by accident and consuming a burger king twice my own body weight plonked on the plane for a nice snooze.
The plane took off and after a few moments I had gotten over my intense fear I had an ear infection and that I would be deaf for the rest of my life because of the flight and zoned out and blanked every flight attendant who walked by.
It was still light when we heard a worried voice over the intercom about twenty minutes into the flight informing us we needed to make an emergency landing and we would be returning to Lanzorote.
I and Gibster were having the Lols and freaking out my hyperventilating mother and teary little sister because we were sure-er than sure that everything was A-OK.
Yet, when we came into land we spotted a few flashing lights on the ground. We landed a little unsteadily but safely and we were suddenly surrounded by huge fire engines. Being told nothing but to remain in our seats we were left waiting in a possibly on fire plane.
After a while we were evacuated off the plane and sent off to a 5 star hotel for the night, which was nice, but unsettled! And we were clearly unwanted. After a day of being told nothing and that we were to stay another night, we were getting ready for dinner when someone knocked on the door and told us we would be leaving in 20 minutes for the airport. After a hurried packing, we made it to the bus and set off home for the second time and landed safely in Dublin at 1 o'clock this morning!
So, let the blogging and stress recommence!

Oh life...

When life is getting you down, and things are getting ontop of you. It's best to take a break and re-evaluate what's going on. Make a to do list, have a drink with your friends and forget everything for a little while. This is what I intend on doing from Sunday on in Lanzorote. So, keep on eye on intstagram  for updates but posts will be a little less frequent til I get back!

Dundrum Blogger in Residence Competition? Challenge Accepted.

Yaow! Hello again! (Man these posts are getting more frequent eh?) . I was lugging myself out of bed and into work this evening and was doing the usual Facebook stalking when this wonderful opportunity caught my eye.Dundrums Blogger in Residence Oh my lordy!! I have never seen something so awesome, fun, challenging and well damn terrifying.
Basically, it's a competition for bloggers to enter in order to become Dundrums official Autumn/Winter blogger, which on it's own is pretty great! Then though, you get a lot of other awesome gifts from the wonderful center itself (Bonus!!). Each entrant has a set of tasks to complete, first 3 written pieces and then one final styling challenge! So to fair, it's really just a lot of stuff us bloggers like to do regardless! So, I decided to take on the challenge. I know I'm not a huge blogger with a huge following but you know I do love fashion and really would love all your support as much of the voting is down to you guys! So , wish me luck!

For more information on the competition and Dundrum itself check out their Facebook or their website http://www.dundrum.ie/

Challenge 1 : "For the first challenge, we are asking you to pick one item from the prize vault and write a 150-word blog post on why you simply can’t live without this must have fashion item!!"

PrizeChosen : Michael Kors bag

There's an age old condition all us women suffer from. This is our incessant need to bring practically every item we own everywhere we go. (I myself an avid sufferer)
So, when it comes to women, bags are our saviours and a necessity! When thinking of bags who comes to mind but Michael Kors, creating casual designer bags that are classic and easy to wear. Take for instance this  Michael Kors Astrid Large Satchel. It keeps up with this seasons leather trend , large enough to carry my numerous amounts of niknacs and has a timeless look that will last a lifetime. I mean, I need it? It's a necessity, right?

For a lay person like myself, designer labels tend to send me running for the hills, but MK bags are affordable and long lasting. A wonderful investment for the fashion conscious , these bags will always be "In".

Mac&Lush Reviews

So yes! I have been away ! (Go easy on me).
I have been totally over run with work, but alas I have returned, and intend on totally RENOVATING the blog so bare with me as a few changes begin! (And ye know...you love me...)
So! It was my birthday as mentioned in my haul video!
I bought MAC's Fix+,  a mineralize skin finish in Star Wonder and a cream colour base in Luna.

First I wanna talk about is the mineralize finish! It's from MAC's most recent collection, and I think it is FAB-U-LOUS. It's pretty much perfect for every skin tones with pigments of Purple, pink and gold! It sits really nice on makeup and find it suits my pale complexion. What I love the most about this blush is that it doesn't go on very bright or heavy or in your face, but when applied is very subtle and can be built up for a more dramatic look!

The skin finish cost around 30 euro, which is pretty pricey, but it is a very large compact and will probably take a very long time to run out! Along with being on of my now favourite owned makeup items!

Next up, cream colour base in LUNA. Also a MAC product I was less impressed with this one. I dunno if it is me and my super duper shit skin (sorry). Highlighter just does not sit nice on my skin, and this is no exception. It's quite nice for the inner corner of your eyes. It's pigment ain't great though, but to be honest it is probably mostly to do with my complexion. I do however like the feeling and how the product sits on y skin. I just dislike the fact you can't see it very well.
This cam in at 17 euro and probably could have been spent better! I do hope I get more use out of it,

I suffer with terribly dry lips, and every time I try to wear lipstick my lips are ALWAYS getting chapped and icky! Yet, huzzah I have found the answer to my prayers! This gorgeous lip scrub that is pretty much made of sugar. You scrub your lips with it and lick it off (so good, fends off hunger too ;)) once you have used it pop on a little lip balm or vasaline! And tada! Supple lips galore! I love it and for 7 euro , you couldn't ask for a much more effective dry lip fix! So, BIG recommendations for this lush product!
(mmmm...Bubblegum)

Lastly, MAC's Fix+.
This is a great little product that I am delighted I picked up. It's a mineral spray that can be used to finish make up or just re-hydrate skin! Full of vitamins and minerals that aid your skin and this travel sized bottle is SO practical!

I myself like to spray it on my skin before moisturizing AND after I finished my makeup, after a week of everyday use I still have a practically full travel sized bottle, which came in at a very reasonable 12 euro. For you dry skin girls like me this is great to pop in your bag for nights out and your skin starts feeling a little tight! I know that once this runs out I will be investing in a full bottle! And hey, its worth it!

Benefit Makeup Night, Porefessional and the low down on the famous They're Real Mascara!

So , hello lovelies! I had the pleasure of attending a Benefit masterclass during the week with the very lovely Mark Rogers , Benefits leading makeup artist in Ireland and the UK. It all started out will, we were sitting at a table for around ten adorned with sweets, flowers champagne and all the Benefit cosmetics we could get our hands on to sample!

We started of the evening with the grooling task of having to remove all our make up, and step by step Mark showed us how to use various products from the range! My fav were the Moisturizing Serum "Moisture Prep Toning Lotion" and their Moisturizer "Total Moisture Facial Cream". These are great preparation for before putting on make-up , especially if you have dry skin! Plus they really aid in having a very even foundation application, and will certainly be landed on my wishlist!
The great thing I found about this class was that , yes Benefit is an investment buy. It is very expensive make up, but by attending this class I got to try out everything and in turn found what suited myself which made the spending a lot easier and choosing things I knew I would use rather than half guessing!
I would completely recommend attending one of these events, to find out when and where they are on keep an eye out on the Benefit facebook page!

In the end up I came away with a little goodie bag, with the renowned Mascara "They're Real" and face primer "Porefessional", Two cream eyeshadows, one for myself and one for a lucky reader of the blog!

So on to the reviews!

Firstly Porefessional, I have been hearing nothing but wonderful things about this primer and just knew I had to get it! On the onset, yes it is amazing! It minimizes pores and takes away that look from your make up where you can see all your pores on your nose etc (that's if you are anything like me, with caves for pores!). Not only does it do that though, but it acts as a primer to create a barrier between your makeup and skin,it also fills any small crease's i.e under the eyes to create a more even finish to your makeup AND it has an spf of 25! La di da!

The ONE and only flaw in porefessional is that, unless you moisturize very very well, or if you like me suffer with dry skin, it can dry your skin out and sometimes leave dry patches which is no good! So, if you do buy this product really ensure you moisturize well!

Secondly They're Real: I LOVE this product,  I find it is so hard to get a good mascara that volumises and lengthens lashes without making them clump together! Yet, this manages to do just that! It's a build-able mascara, so if you want a low key look just apply once or twice but if you want a full look apply a few more! The most ingenious thing about this mascara is the bush, it has a double brush! one along the length and one at the tip so as to get as those small hard to reach lashes at the inner eye! I really do love it!

One minor issue I am having and have had before with Bad Gal, is that black smudges around the eyes or on the eyelids! I am not sure if this is happening everyone so if anyone wants to let me know how they got on with it that would be great!
An eye with one layer of They're real on and one without!

So, thats my review! Giveaway will be up tomorrow guys! So keep an eye out ;)

Picking the best debs dress for your bodyshape!

It's that time of year again...and being given this wonderful idea from a good friend Ms.Sara Dalton I decided to do a debs related post! Looking back I am sure many of us (myself included) wish we had chosen a dress a little better suited to our figure and shape, but we as youngsters are a bit mesmerized by the idea that we are going to get to dress like a princess  etc and the bigger the better...or at times the trampier the better..Alas , I decided I would do a quick and easy guide to dressing your body shape when it comes to evening wear!

For the more curvy lady :
It's probably best to stick to darker colours in order to hide problem areas. The most important thing for curvy woman (and very slim woman) is creating a waist, so look out for dresses that pinch in at the waist and have some sort or belt or embellishment that goes right around the waist.
Now lets be frank you don't want to go hiding all your areas and if you have got em flaunt em, avoid straps and chose heart shape bust lines to enhance your curves, this will also help to proportion out your body, if you have a bigger bust a higher neck line or full coverage will in short make you look much bigger than you are.
Pick long flowing skirts with minimal or no detail, not mountains or cupcakes but sleek falls of material that don't stick to you when you moves nor add size where there is none. And for the love of god avoid patterns , not only are they mostly atrocious but they add weight and fuss.

The first Dress was found @Dresscode.Ie the next two are from NewYorkdress.com and missesdressy.com

Now for the Athletic/Very Slender Girl:
If you are a very slim girl its best to get a little fussy with your dress, straps are a great way to broaden your shoulders, once more as I said, creating waist is the best way to add curves and create a hour glass figure so go with something pinched in at the waist or with a belt or embellishment the whole way round the waist. Having a higher neck line or cap sleeves will draw attention away from a smaller bust , if you really want to enhance that area pick a dress, with folds , layering or frills on the bust to create more shape. have a skirt that rather than sticks to you skims over the hips, make sure there are many layers of fabric to ensure once more that you are adding more shape. Finally, if you like em grab a dress with patterns, patterns are a great way to draw eyes away from a very slender shape.

These dresses are to die for ! And can all be found @Parisbella.com
If you are a Petite Lass :
I know you don't wanna hear it, but you should really be picking a short dress this will avoid you looking lost in a long dress and give the illusion that you are taller than you are! Stick to the rules above if you are bustier have a low neckline if you aren't so much cover it up etc. The great thing for petite girls though is that usually you don't have much to hide, and usually you have great hourglass shapes! So you have so much more to play around with! Here is a few great examples of short dresses :

All these dresses are available once more at ParisBella.com!

Thats my advice for Debs/Prom dresses! If you have anymore questions or queries email me Rose.Brennan@ucdconnect.ie
